City Birthday

I made this card for my cousin's birthday.  He enjoys the city.  The cityscape is from Going Places and is cut at 3.3.  I used the hide condor function on the Gypsy to hide all of the windows in the city and cut it out of yellow cardstock.  I recut the cityscape as is out of gray to create layers.  I then inked the gray city with silver ink.  The sun is from Celebrate with a Flourish.  I used the hide condor function to hide the center circle cut.  Finally, the plane is cute from Summer Vacation at 1 inch.  This is a standard A2 card. 

Bear Card

As I said in the previous post, I just finished up a trip to Yosemite with my extended family.  My aunt (who is a brilliant card maker and scrapper) sent me a handmade card saying she had a great time.  I had to respond with a card of my own.  I used the Cricut Circle Weekly Challenge as inspiration for this card.  The Challenge was to use the provided sketch. 



Instead of the flowers, I used the polar bear from Animal Kingdom.  I used the gypsy to blackout the eyes and used the Here Kitty Kitty Peachy Keen stamp for the eyes.  (I covered the mouth and nose with a tissue so I wouldn't get ink on it and therefore could just stamp the eyes.)  A couple of years ago, I was in Yosemite with my aunt and she spotted a bear scaling a cliff.  Whenever I think of Yosemite I think of that bear and how lucky we were that she saw it!  So naturally, the card had to have a bear on it.  :-)  The tag is from my stash of Cricut cuts that I made and didn't end up using from a previous project and the tree border is a punch.  I used Glimmer Mist for the background of the card.

Puppy Thank You Card

I recently had a family reunion with my Dad's side of the family.  About 20 of us headed to Yosemite National Park for a week.  We had a lot of fun!  We went to a town outside of the park for dinner one night and I discovered a scrapbooking store.  It was an exciting find.  The store is called The Cat's Meow and if anyone is in Oakhurst, I highly recommend it!  They even have two resident cats who are sweethearts.  Anyway, I was heading to the register with my purchases when my Grandmother stepped in and paid for everything.  She's always been supportive of my scrapping hobby and loves to receive handmade cards.  I thought this one up for her.  The flowers are from Country Life (the stems are from the cut with the horse, they are actually hay, but it works.)  The puppy is from Everyday Paper Dolls.  I hid the eyes and nose on the gypsy so I could use the Peachy Keep stamps (Here Kitty Kitty Assortment.)  I didn't hide condor the mouth so that the flowers could poke through and look like the dog was holding them.  I used flower brads and covered them with Stickles.  The dog's tag says "Handmade with Love."

Butterfly Thank You Card

My aunt and uncle got me the Floral Emporium cartridge for my birthday.  Usually when I send them cards they have to be masculine because they have two boys (and all of their pets are male too!)  But I wanted to use the cartridge they gave me and I figured that my aunt picked it out so I could make it to her taste.  :-)  (And I'm thrilled to make a girly card!)

The butterfly is from Floral Emporium, the flowers are from Paisley and the branch is from Sentimentals.  I used Bubblegum Stickles on the flowers and Glossy Accents on one of the butterfly's wings.

Sister's Graduation Banner

When my sister saw the banner I made for my brother's graduation, she asked that her graduation banner be "prettified."  I was happy to oblige.  I like my brother's banner, but there isn't enough glitter and shine.  He, being a boy, preferred his streamlined.

I started by cutting the banner and it's shadow at about 5" from Birthday Bash.  The blue star paper is from Joann's (from their 5 for $1 sale.)  I liked the paper as it was, but I thought I could prettify it.  I took a sparkle gel pen and outlined the stars.  After I did the stars, the black shadowed banner looked plane so I used fine black glitter to sparkle it up a bit.

Next I used Ribbons and Rosettes to make the star rosette.  I cut it out of plane white cardstock at 2".  I added Frosted Lace stickles to the stars just for fun.  :-)

The penguins are from Simply Charmed.  (My sister LOVES penguins.) I used the gypsy to blackout the faces and used Peachy Keen stamps instead.  I used Glossy Accents on the eyes.  The graduation cap and diploma are from Happy Graduation.  I sized them to fit the penguin.  The penguin's sash is from Paper Doll's Dress Up.  It is the witch's shrug.  I just sized it to fit and cut off the ragged end.

The letters are from Varsity Letter.  I used Glossy Accents on the letters.

Mother's Day Card

Happy Mother's Day!  I made this card for my Mom.  The card base and scallop boarder are from Just Because Cards.  I welded the scallop with a rectangle to make the background.  The hearts were cut from Create A Critter and the font is Songbird. 

Recipe Challenge

This was the last challenge from National Scrapbooking Day that I was able to finish before the deadline.  (I had a project planned for each challenge but the time got away from me!)  This challenge required that we use the following recipe:

Use 3 Cricut Image cuts
3 Patterned Papers
A butterfly, bird or bug
Stitching
The color Yellow

I cut out grass from Gypsy Wanderings and the Easter cartridges.  The bee is from Just Because Cards (I cut the wings out in vellum and Cuttlebugged the top layer with my trusty Swiss Dots folder.)  I used a punch for the sun and I hand stitched the bee's trail.  I ended up using four different patterned papers which is double my record, so this was a stretch for me.  This card is for my aunt's birthday who refers to herself as the "Queen Bee."  Naturally I give her a bee card for her birthday every year.  :-)  I also used stickles on the bee's stripes and outlined her with a yellow glitter pen.
